Furry as a arctistic movement

I've seen some people taking dumb stuff on Twitter to say "furry is not a culture" lol

I will clarify a thing:

As a arctistic movement, furry culture IS also a culture

Definition of culture: "Set of habits, faiths and knowledges of a people OR a arctistic group (literary, musical, dramaturgical etc) that cultivates, in any way, a similar aesthetic standard"

Fandom is also a part of it. But i consider it very limited to say furry is a fandom, because we're not fans of a specific content, instead we create our contents under a art aesthetic, based in anthropomorphic animals, and create new fans of stuff ourself do. Some of us do fanart of a specifically content, like Star Fox, but furry is not strict limited to it, this is why fandom is just a part of it.

Of course this aesthetic and beliefs also vary from nationality and region, wich makes us more appropriated to be considered a subculture, but we still share knowledges and standards in the furry community globally. We are a community of fans and artists, in wich incentivates fans to also become artists.

Artwork can not only be expressed in a visual thing, like a drawing. We have our big variation artistic sets: illustrators, crafters, fursuiters, murrsuiters, musicians, game-makers, roleplayers, yiffstars etc

Them all expressing under the same kind for the same community of people. Developing and sharing to the same community new standards, beliefs and knowledges

The same way realism, renascentist, cubism etc movements, wich were an important mark in evolving the arctistic history, were arctistic movements for their communities and their creations, this also makes us an arctistic movement that has an importance in the arctistic history, and the improvement of the society

We were already taking important speechs into ourselves much before the same questions were being taken in the 'normal society'. We were already trans-welcoming and queer much before society were accepting LGBT people, and our arts had a importance in transforming society that way by transforming our minds and thus being a hole that would transform people's mind

We were knowing, accepting and being part of therian-people lives when common society doesn't even know about theriantrophy, reducing it as a "illness" the same way transgenderism were limited to it till 2018. Furries accepts and embrace theriantrophy much easier than 'humans' would do. As a therian, furry culture helps me a lot to identity the way i feel, helps with my specie-disphoria, plus having fun with this with other furs by making fictional characters and stories involving my theriankin.

This is why we are not only a fandom, we are a arctistic movement, thus we are a culture.
